T-Mobile Number Change

For many years now, I have been unable to port an existing phone number into any of my TMO phones because "it was already a tmobile number". I had ported it from Sprint in an attempt to keep the phone number, so, it became a prepaid phone.

Over the past weekend, I added two more lines to my tmo family plan, and now have five lines on my family plan, with the 'kids are free until 2010' program. Which lowered the monthly bill by $9.99. So, I got to thinking, and decided that the fifth line, which isn't being used by anyone, should be the one to adopt the number from the prepaid phone.

So I called tmo, and to my surprise, had absolutely no issue with the rep. I'd used the prepaid earlier in the day to donate parts of the prepaid balance to charity, so I'd already used up most of the prepaid balance. After talking with the first rep, she sent me over to 'prepaid' to cancel the phone number. Of course, prepaid had absolutely no idea, so they forwarded me to 'activations'. Activations was also clueless, and, after a while, while they were trying to do whatever the first rep did, they advised that the change was complete. So I thanked her, and hung up.

I then went to look for the phone - it was still unopened. Broke out the sim, plugged it into an AT&T unlocked phone, and dialed #NUM# and presto - the number was there.

Yeah!

Rail against Cricket

1-800-CRICKET has a confusing VR menu and summarily drops your call when they cannot figure out what you are calling about. And the options you are given are likely not what you are calling about.

I probably made some 15 calls before getting to "Zach" to cancel my broadband service.

The good thing about the cancellation, is that you have the option to cancel at the end of the prepaid period, instead of immediately - so, you can use up all the prepaid dollars you have already forked over.

Many of the 15 plus calls ended up with the VRU dropping my call because "they could not figure out what I was calling about and suggested I call back later". On two occasions, I got through to folks in activation, who were going to transfer me to the cancellations department, but dropped my call instead. On the last time, "Zach", also in activations, handled the cancellation.

I guess the lesson to learn is to keep trying.

To install the files, check the Install files for East Asian languages in the Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages. If you enter into Engineer mode
DO NOT SELECT & DO NOT EVEN HIGHLIGHT
the "High Speed SIM" option using the stylus or finger,

Always use the side volume control button to navigate the menus
while in Engineer mode, that way an accidental selection of an

Many of the settings in this first post have not been tested to work properly
on the i9/i9+ cell phones, read other member posts in the rest of the thread
that have correctly identified codes which work at least on their version of
the i9 phone, as there is less likely to input a code which will make your
phone inoperable! If you brick your phone (make it inoperable) by using an
input code, read the forum FAQ Upgrade & Flashing section (here), because
you may need to flash your phone with a new firmware to get it to work again!

To use these codes open up your phone's dialing pad to enter them EXACTLY as shown.
Many codes will work as soon as the last character in the code is entered
into the phone, usually the codes for Engineer or Factory mode & the version
summary information work like this, however, some other codes, such as those
for setting languages, may need you to enter the entire code, then tap the dial
button to activate the code.

codes that do work on your phone, then ask about them in this thread, & do not
open up a new thread on the forum asking about what codes will work. Please
